The second day was spent outside making observational mono-prints and drawings, which were created in a much quicker way due to the sun and the wind.

These have a livelier more vibrant and playful feel.

Many families came to visit on this day.

This may be combined with one or more of the previous prints so that time can overlap and neither is privileging the other.

Over the two-day period of the residency the series of similar prints were added to through small observational mono-prints and drawings from the sights and sounds of the world music festival.

These prints were to become as if pages taken from a visual diary of the events at Hitchin Priory over the period.

During the process of screen-printing discrepancies are allowed to occur through the re-printing over and over of selected areas of the image. Combinations of map imagery personal sketches and memories will combine over the two-day period to create a series of large and small collaged prints and drawing which will reflect a variety of responses to the music, visuals and impressions of the festival events.

This image is an A2 screen print collage with mono-printed additions which will be worked on along with others similar during the festival period.

Small plaster casts of lost, found, remembered personal objects and artefacts.

The meaning and story within these objects when placed in close proximity to one another is able to be interpreted in a variety of ways dependent upon their physical placement within other images.

The experiences and references of the viewer add other layers and dimensions to the narratives generated between these small things.

Collections of very small scale mono prints on hand painted antique book pages with the addition of hand applied lettering.

On this small scale works there is also the addition of rubber stamp printing.

It is intended that these small prints are collaged into the larger screen printed work as well as possibly being added in layers through digital photographic techniques.

Based on a monochrome screen printed image taken from drawing juxtapositions of the local area map for Hitchin together with drawings of celebratory Gypsophilia flowers and other narrative elements selected from personal memory of the locality around the Priory site in Hitchin.

Small sketches like these experiment with the idea of ‘snippets’ of responses in the form of mono printed paper elements combined and collaged onto the main print.

These elements would be taken from my own work on site over the two day period as well as prints made by visitors to the festival.
